A New Year: Setting Intentions and Navigating Unexpected Challenges

As we step into a new year, I’m filled with a mix of excitement and determination. There’s something about this time of year that feels like a fresh start—a chance to align with what truly matters and set the tone for the months ahead.

But life doesn’t always follow our plans. Right now, the Eaton Fire in Altadena and Pasadena is an urgent reminder of how quickly everything can change. This fire has already displaced hundreds of families, including a dear friend of mine, Nic, and his Nana, who lost everything. History, culture, and so many lives have been impacted.

It’s easy to feel helpless in moments like these, but I truly believe that when communities come together, we can create powerful change. If you’re wondering how to help, here are a few ways to support the relief efforts:

How You Can Support Eaton Fire Relief Efforts

1. Donate to Nic & Nana’s GoFundMe

2. Volunteer with Local Organizations

3. Brew & Browse Clothing Drive— Feb 16th

**(Donations accepted— clothing, food, essentials)

Even a small gesture can make a big difference for those who’ve lost so much.

Resetting, Not Restarting

This past week, I had to press pause on the momentum I started building with the 75 Hard Challenge. The fire threw everything off balance, and that’s okay—it’s a reminder that life isn’t always about sticking to rigid plans. It’s about learning to adapt and keep going.

Instead of restarting the challenge, I’m taking this as a mental reset. I’m picking up where I left off, refocusing on the goals I’ve set for myself, and keeping things moving forward. And if you’re on a similar path—whether it’s a fitness journey, career goals, or personal growth—here’s what I’ve learned:

• It’s okay to fall off track. It happens to all of us. The key is to get back up and keep going.

• You don’t have to do it perfectly. Growth is messy, and that’s what makes it real.

• Don’t let social media trends define your goals. Find what feels right for you and go at your own pace.

Looking Forward

This year, I have some exciting things planned—events, collaborations, and a whole lot of creative projects I can’t wait to share. While I’m keeping some of my personal goals close to my heart, I want to invite you to come along for the journey.

Whether it’s hosting community events like Brew & Browse, growing The Retreat and EmikoWellness, or diving into new creative spaces , this year is about showing up authentically and seeing where it takes me.

I don’t have all the answers, and I’m definitely still figuring things out, but that’s what makes it fun. My hope is to bring you along as I navigate the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
