Why I Fell in Love with Yoga (And How It Changed Everything)

Hello!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Rachel Emiko, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my page, which is all about wellness and community. Here, I offer yoga services and host events, but at the heart of it all is my deep love for holistic wellness.

I first fell in love with yoga—specifically hot yoga—back in 2017 when I was in college. I was searching for a new way to move my body, and hot yoga felt like the perfect fit. I quickly became hooked on sculpt yoga—a fiery, high-energy practice that helped me burn off all my excess energy. At the time, it was exactly what I needed, and I’d practice every day (sometimes twice a day!).

But a couple of years later, when the pandemic hit, everything shifted. With yoga studios shutting down and the world feeling uncertain, I tried practicing non-heated yoga in my room, but honestly…it wasn’t the same. With all the distractions at home, it didn’t feel very zen. That’s when I realized I needed to expand my yoga practice beyond just the physical poses and dive into everything yoga has to offer.

Since then, I’ve completed certifications in Hatha, Yin, and Sculpt yoga, and I’m now a certified yoga instructor. Each style has brought something different to my practice. Hatha yoga is a perfect introduction to the basics, focusing on breath and alignment through a slow, steady flow. Yin yoga is much more meditative, with long holds that target deep connective tissues. Then there’s Sculpt yoga, which combines yoga with strength training to build heat and tone the body. Together, these styles have given me a broad set of tools to help others discover the power of yoga, no matter where they’re starting from.

If you’re curious about how my wellness journey has shaped what I do today, or if you want to dive deeper into holistic wellness, stay tuned for my next post where I’ll break down what holistic wellness really means and how you can start incorporating it into your life.

In the meantime, I’d love to connect with you! Drop a comment, send me a DM, or share your own wellness journey—I’m all about building a community where we can grow and support each other. Let’s chat!

Love,

Rachel Emiko
